US: We welcome direct talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia



The State Department official wrote on his Twitter account on Monday local time that he hoped the talks would help ease tensions and address long-standing regional concerns.
He added that a full and reciprocal return to Burjam could support these regional efforts.
Earlier, at the end of his visit to Riyadh, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell issued a statement welcoming the recent bilateral talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

“The European Union welcomes the recent bilateral talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia,” the statement said in part.

The Saudi Foreign Minister stated that the talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran are under evaluation.
