Warning to Santa Fe and Sportage owners / Park your car outside

According to Trade News, Hyundai and Kia told the owners of their nearly 500,000 cars in the United States to park their cars outdoors due to a possible defect that could lead to a fire when the car was turned off.

Quoted from سی‌ان‌انThe problem is that due to “external contaminants”, the computer control module of the anti-lock brake can short-circuit and cause a fire in the engine compartment. Hyundai has made this call for the 2016 Santa Fe cars, the 2017 and 2018 Santa Fe sports cars, the 2019 Santa Fe XL and also the 2015-2015 Tucson. Kia’s problem cars also include the 2016-2018 K900 sedan and the 2014-2016 Sportage. In total, Hyundai has recalled 357,830 vehicles and Kia 126,747 vehicles.

The anti-lock brake control module of these cars is to be reviewed and, if necessary, replaced with a new module. However, there is a possibility of replacing the electric current control fuse with the anti-lock brake control unit. These changes will have no cost to car owners.

In a document submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Kia said it was aware of the incident. However, the two companies have stated that drivers can drive these cars in complete safety, but they must park their cars away from any building.
