Zakani: We are ready to transfer experiences in the fields of urban services and transportation to Baghdad

According to Fars report, the mayor of Tehran visited the mayor of Baghdad today – July 25, 1402 – as part of his business trip to Iraq.

Alireza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran, stated that we hope to be able to envision clear horizons for cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran, and stated: Cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad should continue both in religious events and in other days of the year.

Referring to the coming of the Arbaeen million march, he added: The Arbaeen million event is one of the arenas that the municipalities of the 2 capital cities should try to organize as appropriately as possible.

The mayor of Tehran further stated: Our trip to Iraq today is to follow up the arrangements and make preparations for serving Arbaeen pilgrims.

Emphasizing that the connection and joint cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad should not be limited to the Arbaeen event, Zakani said: Tehran and Baghdad are 2 historical cities that follow transformation and modernization programs. The cooperation of the two capitals can provide suitable services for the citizens of both countries.

He said: The infrastructural achievements of Tehran Municipality, both in the field of transportation and in the field of urban services, can be provided as successful experiences to Baghdad Municipality and provide the welfare of the people.

The mayor of Tehran stated that today the speed of Tehran’s development is very high and added: this year we will open 44 kilometers of lines (inside and Parand Metro) with 13 metro stations. We will start building new lines this year.

The mayor of the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran continued: Tehran Municipality has reached full self-sufficiency in all areas of construction, operation and development of the subway with the efforts of young scientists.

Zakani added: According to Tehran’s perspective, the city’s metro lines of 500 kilometers should be completed by 1420, but we hope to achieve this in a shorter period of time with jihadi efforts.

He also announced the readiness of Tehran Municipality to transfer its experiences in the field of waste management to Baghdad.
