A few months ago, the deputy of artistic affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance visited the painting workshop of Habibullah Sadeghi, a veteran painter of our country, while attending the Palestine Museum of Contemporary Arts. The pictures showed that Sadeghi has been searching for the representation of committed art all his life and worthy of the name of the Islamic Republic.
In the following, you will watch some important Ashura paintings by Habibullah Sadeghi.
Sadeghi knew the world of painting correctly and skillfully presented a committed artist. He was one of the most important painters who could represent Ashura in a dignified way. In his Ashura paintings, Imam Hossein (a.s.) and his companions are in a position of power and dignity, and this promising and revolutionary approach is hidden in all of Sadeghi’s work periods.
In addition to the committed themes and symbolic approach that can be seen in Sadeghi’s paintings, from an aesthetic point of view, composition, color and play with visual elements are also seen in a modern and innovative way in Sadeghi’s paintings. The struggle between light and darkness, both in its symbolic meaning and in a visual form, has given Sadeghi’s works a meaningful appeal.
Sadeghi dealt more with subjects like Karbala and Ashura than any other painting. His way of looking was different from other painters of his time. In Sadeghi’s paintings, sometimes the light of the face is drawn towards the sky, which is a sign of the ascension of the Imam and his companions in the desert of Karbala.
