
According to Fars news agency, Ali Selajgah, head of the Environmental Protection Organization, in a meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Environment, which was held this afternoon at the Environmental Protection Organization, stated that one of the goals of the regional meeting of the environment ministers was to create convergence and alignment between friendly countries. The head of the Environmental Protection Organization noted: There are different methods and expert opinions in the discussion of stabilization of dust source environments. Therefore, the best methods should be selected and implemented by exchanging opinions of expert panels.
Selajgeh further said: “In the past years, we used petroleum mulches to stabilize the soil in dust-producing environments, which of course caused environmental damage, but in recent years, with the help of Iranian scientists and knowledge-based companies.” Several environmentally friendly mulches have been prepared.
He added: Fortunately, these mulches have had good results both in laboratory conditions, in field conditions and in different temperatures. In addition, they have more advantages than oil mulches from a technical, economic and environmental point of view.
In another part of his speech, the vice president, referring to the good relations between the two countries, Iran and Iraq, emphasized the need to exchange environmental experiences between the two countries and said: The issue of dust storms has overshadowed our countries and caused problems for our citizens. It has become serious that we have to overcome this problem with each other’s participation.
Referring to the plan to create a peace and friendship park between the two countries, whose implementation was stopped with the emergence of the ISIS group, the head of the Environmental Protection Organization announced Iran’s desire to create and develop this park.
In the end, Selajgeh emphasized: We are ready to improve our relations with you in all fields, including environmental issues.
In the continuation of this meeting, Jassim Abdulaziz Hamdi; The Minister of Environment of Iraq thanked Iran for hosting the regional meeting of the Ministers of Environment and said: After Dr. Selajqa’s visit to Baghdad, a new chapter of environmental cooperation between the two countries of Iran and Iraq was opened.
He stated that the presence of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the regional meeting of environment ministers shows the high importance of environmental issues for senior Iranian officials, and emphasized: We support all the results and decisions that were reached in this meeting because the basis It is suitable for cooperation between countries.
The Minister of Environment of Iraq described the topic of transfer of experiences and exchange of experts as very important and added: topics related to the interpretation of water and soil information and the management of the dust phenomenon are among the most important axes of this cooperation.
Abdulaziz Hamdi further noted: Dust storms and desertification phenomenon have harmful effects on the health of the people of the region, but these problems can be controlled through interaction and mutual cooperation.
In the end, he requested to cooperate with our country in the discussion of training experts and staffing to manage environmental challenges.
At the end of this meeting, the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in dealing with dust storms was signed by the head of the Environmental Protection Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Iraq.
