Killing Iranian patients under the code name of American human rights!

Health Department of Fars News AgencyMohammad Tajik:Words Human rights are relatively new and entered the daily conversation only after the Second World War and the establishment of the United Nations in 1945. This phrase has replaced the terms “natural rights” and “human rights” which are older.

Basically, human rights are about things that you are entitled to because you are human. Therefore, rights are valid for all people. For example, you have the right to access health care and education. You have the right to eat until you are full. You have a right to a country to live in and to be a citizen.

Human rights are based on the idea that all people have universal rights; Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, culture, ethnicity or other things that can distinguish a person from others.

According to the mentioned compliments, patients’ access and use of different and needed medicines is one of the most obvious rights of every sick person, and political conflicts and national and international disputes should not interfere with this necessary right for every person in every corner of the world.

In the meantime, with the various sanctions that have been considered by the US and its allies against Iran and have been applied for years, the issue of drug embargo is one of the most important issues in the discussion of imposing sanctions on various goods and services, as these restrictions on the purchase of drugs by our country and Its transfer inside as well as the financial transfer of resources have always cost the lives of hundreds of patients in need of medicine, and their voice of protest has become universal, but the American government and its allies, in complete arrogance and cruelty, not only do not allow the entry of various drugs, especially drugs for rare and special diseases. but they always insist on not embargoing medicine.

On the other hand, the voices of hundreds of patients needing foreign medicines for various diseases are heard every day; As we still remember very well how the so-called countries claiming human rights threw a lot of stones at the transfer of the Corona vaccine to Iran.

These embargo damages the lives of patients to such an extent that the supply of medicine for many patients has been brought to the brink of life and death.

High impact of rare patients from drug embargo

Hamid Reza Nagnafi, Managing Director of Rare Diseases Foundation About “The status of drug supply for patients with rare diseases and whether these patients are also affected by the embargo conditions?» He says to FarsIt is definitely clear that when all patients are affected by this issue, however rare patients will also be doubly affected, because most of the medicines for these patients are provided from abroad.

He continues: Providing medicine is dependent on the treatment of these patients, because the treatment of these patients is such that they have to use medicine every day, chronically, that is, if one day of medicine has an effect on life. They affect and are deeply affected. Therefore, the condition of these patients is different from other patients and diseases.

The medical needs of rare patients equal to life and death

Pargani notes: There are diseases that start treatment in a certain period and sooner or later this work may be done and the desired medicine is provided in some way, but the medicine of these patients must be taken daily and they are suffering from this problem; That is, an “EB or butterfly” patient must perform this dressing every day, and it cannot be said that because he does not have medicine, he should do this in one or two weeks and then we will provide the medicine; Therefore, this dependence on medicine is more severe in these types of diseases. These days, these patients are severely affected by the problem of providing medicine.

The colorful effect of sanctions on rare patients

The CEO of the Rare Diseases Foundation notes: Now the issue of sanctions has been very effective; Although European countries say that it has not been effective, it is not so. For example, when medicine wants to be imported, a sum of money must be transferred, which is the most important problem that occurs here, and the disconnection of SWIFT between our country and other countries becomes the most important factor that makes it difficult or late to transfer this money; While most countries do not have this problem.

He noted: Another issue is that every service, not just medicine, must be insured and transferred when the insurance is made; While now international insurance companies are also affected by this issue of embargo and we are also dealing with this problem.

Perghani clarified: The Food and Drug Organization, which is responsible for providing the medicine for these patients, has arrangements so that they can provide the medicine in ways other than the usual ways, which is a difficult task, but in any case, what is certain is that the medicine for rare patients must be provided reach them on time and this issue strongly affects the health status of patients.

The rare patient has to get his medicine in any way

The Managing Director of the Rare Diseases Foundation added: We know that a rare patient has to provide his medicine in any way when the medicine arrives late. The supply of medicine is more obligatory for these patients than bread, and it should be provided by the Food and Drug Organization and the Ministry of Health, and this issue is not a joke.

5 thousand rare patients with 366 rare diseases in Iran

He said: According to the latest research we have done, we have registered 366 types of rare diseases in Iran so far, and there are nearly 5,000 rare patients in the country, and these people are the ones who registered their documents in the Rare Diseases Foundation.

Bahram Ainollahi, Minister of Health at the 75th World Health Assembly In Geneva, stating that economic and financial wars cause more damage to the health of societies, he said: the unilateral coercive measures of the United States increased the effects of Covid-19 and limited Iran’s access to vaccines and medical equipment.

He continued: After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1357, the Islamic Republic of Iran has faced numerous sanctions in foreign trade, oil, financial and banking services, but the reimposition of illegal and unilateral sanctions by the United States in 2018 against companies and in particular In the financial-commercial sector, it directly and indirectly targeted people and even limited patients’ access to medicine and medical services.

Sanction of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment in Iran

The Minister of Health noted: The unilateral US sanctions against Iran, which threatened other countries and prevented the provision of services and equipment to medical and health centers, the sale of special and urgent drugs and the transfer of laboratory equipment, also caused problems in financial exchange, currency exchange, insurance and The transportation of companies created for the import of goods and medical products, which had negative consequences on people’s health.

Ain Elahi expressed: In fact, despite America’s claim that there is no embargo on medical and medical equipment, many banks, institutions and companies were very cautious in doing business with Iran for fear of possible punishment.

Urgent need of 1200 patients with medical band

The Minister of Health noted: For example, the Swedish company “Monlike” refused to send medical bandages to patients with EB in Iran due to US sanctions. Meanwhile, nearly 1,200 butterfly patients in Iran urgently need these medical bandages.

The United Nations acknowledges the existence of a pharmaceutical embargo on Iran

He expressed: UN experts in human rights affairs, October 2021, in a report referring to the problems that some patients in Iran are facing in accessing the medicine and medical equipment they need as a result of the US sanctions, emphasized: “These sanctions It prevents patients from enjoying their human rights, especially the right to health.”

The Minister of Health mentioned: It is clear that the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States without the permission of the United Nations are also illegitimate in terms of compliance with international legal standards and contrary to the principle of the rule of law in the international community. These sanctions, imposed under the pretext of exerting political pressure on governments, also violate human rights in the target countries; Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone has the right to a standard of living in terms of health and well-being for himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing and health care and necessary social services.”

The most violation of human rights is from America

Vahid Jalalzadeh, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the 11th Parliament Stating that the biggest violation of human rights is from America, he said: America commits this violation of rights against its own people and country as well as against other countries.

25% of the world’s prisoners are in America!

He continued: America’s population is 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prisoners are in American prisons. Violence and oppression against Latinos, women, blacks, etc., takes place daily; But America presents itself as the guardian and enforcer of human rights.

Jalalzadeh, referring to the law of the war against terror of the United States, said: “Nearly 85 million people in the world were harmed by this law of the United States.” Millions of people were displaced in Afghanistan.

Referring to the trip and the report of Alena Dohan, the UN special rapporteur on “the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights,” the head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said: I had a meeting with her. Only one case of violation of human rights and the effects of sanctions in Iran was the timely delivery of medicine to Iranian patients and the death of these loved ones.

Unilateral sanctions are a serious threat to human rights

Alena Dohan, United Nations Special Rapporteur Regarding the investigation of the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, at the end of his 12-day trip to Iran, he issued a statement and said: Unilateral sanctions and extreme observance of sanctions are a serious threat to human rights and human dignity.

It is stated in this statement: According to a United Nations human rights expert, the complex set of unilateral sanctions against Iran, along with secondary sanctions against third-party individuals and institutions, extreme compliance with sanctions and the adoption of zero-risk policies by some companies and financial institutions, It has aggravated the existing human and economic challenges and has had a negative impact on people’s lives, especially the most vulnerable sections of the society.

I have heard a sad story from patients

This statement states: Alena Dohan, the special rapporteur of the United Nations in the matter of investigating the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, at the end of her 12-day trip to Iran, said that she asked patients suffering from certain diseases and people with disabilities about the problems that They have heard sad stories about access to medicines and auxiliary equipment they need.

He said: “I am very worried about the life-threatening consequences caused by the skyrocketing costs of medicine and specialized medical equipment, and in certain cases, their non-availability due to commercial and financial restrictions caused by sanctions.” According to the reports I received, this situation is due to the reluctance of foreign companies to supply these goods, which is also due to their fear of the possible consequences of doing so, including criminal prosecution and financial penalties.

Dohan noted: Despite the government’s efforts and measures to reduce the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures (sanctions) on different sections of society, especially vulnerable groups, the economic problems caused by sanctions along with the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the aforementioned sanctions have multifaceted and cumulative effects in all sectors. has left the country.

This special rapporteur emphasized: Although Iran’s actions have reduced the direct negative effects of sanctions on the enjoyment of human rights, the current situation should not be used as a basis for legitimizing and legalizing unilateral sanctions.

The last word is; What America and its allies refer to as human rights should be called rights as a tool for plundering humanity, because in order to exploit the people of different countries, they have always tried to protect humanity in the name of respecting the dignity of human beings and under the banner of human rights defenders. They are stuck in every corner under different excuses and fulfill their development goals more.
