Two other giant sphinxes were discovered in Egypt

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, archaeologists found the two giant statues during the reconstruction of the tomb of King Amenhotep III in ancient Egypt.

King Amenhotep III was the pharaoh who ruled Egypt about 3,300 years ago, when Egypt, rich in gold reserves, saw a period of peace and prosperity and growing international power.

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism says the two limestone statues are about 26 feet (nearly 8 meters) long and depict King Amenhotep III as a Sphinx, a mythical creature with a lion body and a human head with a monkey skin hat, royal beard and They show a wide necklace.

A team of Egyptian and German archaeologists found the statues half submerged in water inside the Temple of Luxor, known as the “Temple of Millions of Years Old.”

The team also found three granite black half-pieces of “Sakhmat”, the goddess of war, which is also associated with healing and is often depicted as a half-lion-half-human.

The ministry said the remains of the walls and columns were decorated with inscriptions from ceremonial and ritual scenes.

The head of the Egyptian-German delegation, Dr. Hoorig Sorosian, says that these large sphinxes showed the movement of the caravans participating in the festivities and carnivals.

Archaeologists also found an inscription on the Sphinx’s chest after cleaning and restoring the statues, which read “Beloved of the God Amun Rey” and referred to the sun god, often depicted as the Sphinx.

The Great Temple, built by King Amenhotep III near the Nile River, was destroyed by an earthquake that shook ancient Egypt.

The main purpose of building the temple of Amenhotep III was to create a place for pilgrims to receive gifts during his transfer from this world and the world after death.
