Unveiling of the deceased cinematographer in Venice



The latest work of “Kim Ki-duk”, the famous director of South Korean cinema, will be shown in the non-competitive section of the 79th Venice Film Festival.

Duke” died in 2020 due to complications caused by Covid-19 in Latvia, and the unfinished film “God’s Call” was completed posthumously by Estonian director “Artur Viber” and had its world premiere in the non-competition section of the Seventy. and will experience the 9th Venice Film Festival.

“Kim Ki-duk” was one of the most famous filmmakers in South Korea, who won prestigious film awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, for the film “Pita”.

“Crocodile” produced in 1996 was the director’s first feature film, which was well received by the audience in South Korea and was also screened at various European festivals.

Although some of Kim K-duk’s works have won him numerous awards, several of the director’s films have been criticized for animal cruelty or extreme depictions of violence.

This director won the Berlin Film Festival’s Silver Bear for the 2004 film “The Good Girl” and the Venice Film Festival’s Silver Lion for “3-Iron”. His last film before the new film “Call of God” was made in 2019 with the title “Dissolution” which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 79th Venice Film Festival, the oldest film festival in the world, will be held in Italy from August 31 to September 10.
