Visual Director General to be announced next week / Iran’s presence in Venice is uncertain

Mahmoud Salari, the Deputy Minister of Arts, announced this news to the visual correspondent of Fars News Agency: “The option we were considering and talking about did not allow the Ministry of Science to be assigned to the Ministry of Guidance.” So we immediately introduced another person whose work has been done and, God willing, he will be introduced next week.

Asked whether Iran would attend the 59th Venice Biennale this year, he said: “We have not yet made a decision in this regard, because our budget situation is still unclear.” As soon as our budget is announced and the General Directorate of Visualization is in order, we will make a decision at the earliest opportunity and, if necessary, consult and implement our actions immediately.

According to Fars, the General Directorate of Visual Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has been without a director general since last February, before the 14th Fajr Visual Arts Festival. Hadi Mozaffari previously held this position.

The 58th Venice Biennale was held in this Italian tourist city from May 12 to December 20, 2009, and the Iran pavilion had 30,367 visitors during its 6-month period. “From Being and Composing” was the name of the pavilion and exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this period and exhibited the works of three artists named “Reza Lavasani”, “Samira Alikhanzadeh” and “Ali Mir Azimi”.

The 59th Venice Biennale has been delayed by a year due to the outbreak of the Corona virus and is scheduled to take place this summer.
