Injuries due to lack of specialist doctors in the country / migration of doctors to be taken seriously

In an interview with a Fars News Agency health reporter, Kiomars Sarmadi Vale said: “The shortage of doctors, especially in the field of specialization, has reasons, one of which is the lack of fair distribution in the country.” This means that the places that have enough facilities, the number of their specialist doctors is more, and the places that have little and are deprived suffer from this shortage. The main reason for this shortage is the opposition of people whose interests are in conflict with the increase in the capacity of the specialist doctor in the country. This means that if decision-makers in this field are among those whose interests are jeopardized by the increase in physicians, they will certainly have a good excuse not to increase capacity. What the statistics show is that the per capita number of specialist doctors in Iran is very small compared to the international standard, and this problem can not be in the interests of the people.
He went on to point out the disadvantages of the shortage of specialist doctors in the country and said: “There is a percentage of medical errors in the whole world, but it is natural that the less specialists we have, the more the workload of doctors will increase.” As a result, we may encounter unintentional medical error. Also, one of the reasons for the congestion of some clinics and the unbalanced cost of some medical services is the lack of a specialist enough that we have to compensate for this shortage and bring it up to the world standard. Of course, let us not forget that sanctions and inflation are not ineffective in making medical services more expensive.
Sarmadi added: “The right of our compatriots is to have easy access to a specialist doctor in their own region. If we do not provide these conditions for them, the disease and lack of treatment will definitely harm the health of the individual and the family economy.” This damage affects the health of the community and the progress of the community.
Localization and legal requirements A solution to the shortage of doctors
A member of the Social Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that the problem of migration of doctors should be taken seriously: “One of the solutions we can do regarding the migration of doctors is to have legal requirements.” A person who uses the educational facilities and conditions of the country and acquires specialization, must be obliged to serve in the areas designated by the authorities. We can also increase the retention of people in their city and prevent migration by localization and increasing the facilities of different cities.
He concluded: “The country is facing an aging crisis in the future, and naturally, as you get older, medical care should increase.” The number of our specialist doctors does not answer this question. Our general practitioners and specialists in the Middle East are now well-qualified and we should not move in the direction of bringing doctors into our cities as in the past. We will definitely not reach those stages, and just as the increase in the capacity of general practitioners was approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, we will see an increase in the capacity of specialist doctors, God willing.
