Mikis Theodorakis is a legendary legend / Farewell to the symbol of Greek music

The world’s great composer Mikis Theodorakis has died at the age of 96.

Theater News Base: Mikis Theodorakis, the legendary composer of world cinema and a fiery Marxist in politics and the creator of the masterpieces “Z”, “Greek Zorba”, “Martial Law”, “Electra” and “Serpico”, has died at the age of 96.

The news of the death of Mikis Theodovarkis was confirmed by the Greek Minister of Culture today, Thursday, September 2nd.

Mikis Theodovarkis was best known for composing the music for “Greek Zorba” starring Anthony Quinn, which brought him international fame. The music of the “Greek tyrant” somehow reflected the racial nature of the Greek people.
The legendary Greek composer later wrote the soundtrack for Costa Gauras’ films, including “Z” and “Martial Law”.

Mikis Theodovarkis, who was also active in politics, was exiled by his country’s dictatorial government in the late 1960s. In those years, the rebellious music of Theodorakis was reminiscent of the lost freedoms of the people of his country. Theodorakis, of course, returned to his country in the mid-1970s and later entered the Greek Senate several times.
