
According to Mehr news agency, the international freestyle wrestling competitions of the World Union Ranking Open Zagreb Cup were held on the 12th and 13th of February in the city of Zagreb, Croatia, where the representatives of our country won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and the runner-up title.
At the end of this competition, Reza Atari in 61 kg weight, Ali Swadkohi in 79 kg weight, Hassan Yazdani in 86 kg weight and Amir Hossein Zare in 125 kg weight won the gold medal and Younis Emami in 74 kg weight and Amir Ali Azarpira in 97 kg weight. They won the silver medal.
In the team ranking, Iran’s 6-member team stood in second place with 140 points, and the American team, which participated with a full team, was first with 174 points. Azerbaijan also stood in third place with 135 points.

In the weight of 61 kg, Reza Atari defeated Shota Fartenadze from Georgia in the first round with a score of 4:3 and went to the semi-finals. In this stage, he won against Gamzatgadji Khalidov from Hungary with a score of 3-0 and went to the final match of Atari in the final match with a score of 11-3 and he defeated the world bronze medalist Narankho Narmandakh from Mongolia with a technical shot and won the gold medal. In the weight of 74 kg, Yunus Emami defeated Kojiro Shiga from Japan in the first round with a score of 10:1. In the next round, he defeated Timuraz Salkazanov, the world silver medalist from Slovakia, with a score of 5-0 and went to the quarter finals. In this stage, Emami defeated Joseph Lavallee from America with a score of 7:3 and made it to the semi-finals. In this stage, he won against Fazli Erilmaz from Turkey with the result of 3:2 and reached the finals. In the final match, he lost to Jason Nolf from America with a score of 3-3 and won the silver medal.
In the weight of 79 kg, Ali Sawadkohi defeated Pi Long Li from China in the first round with a score of 10:0. In the next round and in the quarter-final stage, he defeated Saifuddin Alkema from France with a score of 11:0 and made it to the semi-final stage. He won against Vladimir Gamkerlidze, the under-23 world champion from Georgia, with a score of 10-1 and went to the finals. In the final match, Svadekohi overcame Avtandil Kontchadze, the world silver medalist from Georgia, with a score of 2:1, and won the gold medal. In the 86 kg category, Hasan Yazdani defeated Sebastien Jezirzanski from Poland with a score of 10:0 in the first round. In the second round and in the quarter-finals, he defeated Abubaker Abakarov, the world bronze medalist from Azerbaijan, with a score of 11:0, and made it to the semi-finals. At this stage, Yazdani defeated Mark Hall from America with a score of 10-0 and qualified for the finals. In the final match, he defeated Hayato Ishiguro from Japan with a score of 13:2 and won the gold medal.
In the weight of 97 kg, Amir Ali Azarpira won in the first round with a score of 11:0 against Nishan Randhawa from Canada. In the next round and in the quarter-finals, he defeated Ibrahim Jeftji from Turkey with a score of 10-0 and went to the semi-finals. At this stage, he beat Habila Avosaiman Havilah from China with a score of 10 to 0 and reached the finals. In the final match, Azarpira was defeated by world and Olympic champion Kyle Snyder from America with a score of 3-0 and won the silver medal.
In the weight of 125 kg, Amir Hossein Zare defeated Milan Korsog from Hungary with the result of 11:0 in the first round. In the next round and in the quarter-final stage, he defeated Kamil Kosiolek from Poland with a score of 10-0 and made it to the semi-final stage. At this stage, he beat Daniel Ligeti from Hungary with a score of 9:2 and qualified for the finals. Zare won the gold medal in the final match due to the absence of Giorgi Meshvildishvili from Azerbaijan.
