8 specialist doctors accused in the death of Maradona

According to Fars news agency, Argentina’s appeals court confirmed on Tuesday that eight professional doctors are accused in the death of Diego Maradona, the country’s football legend, and will be tried in the future.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luce, psychiatrist Agustina Kosachov and six others appealed the 2022 court ruling.

Eight defendants appealed against the severity of the charges at a court in San Isidro, northwest of Buenos Aires, arguing that they should be charged with manslaughter.

A panel of 20 medical experts appointed by Argentina’s public prosecutor concluded in 2021 that Maradona had a better chance of survival with adequate treatment in an appropriate medical facility, and they are charged with manslaughter.
