According to Mehr News Agency, the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup competitions will be held on December 19 and 20 in Iowa, USA. In this tournament, 6 teams from Iran, America, Japan, Georgia, Mongolia and the world team are present, who compete in two groups of 3 teams, and the first teams of each group will go to the finals and the second teams will go to the classification match.
After holding their last training last night, Pejman’s students are well prepared to participate in this tournament and they have to face Japan in their first match at 21:30 tonight. The next match of the Iran team will be at 5:30 am tomorrow (Sunday) against the selected world team.
In this regard, Mustafa Aghajani, the coach of our country’s national freestyle wrestling team, said on the sidelines of the team’s training at the venue of these competitions: We have relatively good conditions, because the wrestlers had participated in the league matches and were at a level of preparation. They followed and now they are ready to wrestle properly in the tournament.
Stating that we will not be a weak team in the World Cup, he said: The Japanese team has always had good lightweights, the world team will definitely be very strong, but we have a plan to reach the finals.
Aghajani noted: We would like to test our wrestlers in the World Cup. Against the USA, we will use the main players in several weights, although the second freestylers of the team are not far from the first players. Overall, our goal is the 2024 Olympic Games.
