According to IRNA, while the “World Games” muay thai competition will start on Friday this week hosted by the United States, due to the fact that the Americans did not issue visas, the national players of our country failed to participate in this competition.
In this regard, Iman Ghiathund, the manager of the national muay thai teams, told IRNA: Three Iranian national muay thai players left for Armenia on Thursday last week to attend the American Embassy in Yerevan and do the related work to get visas.
He continued: Fatemeh Nasiri, Nadia Etemadmoghadam and Hamidreza Kurdabadi had won the quota to participate in the American World Games from the International Mutai Federation. All measures to obtain a visa had been taken by the federation, and the Muay Thai fighters of our country were waiting for the issuance of a visa while attending the American embassy in Armenia, but due to the disruption of the Americans, the visa was not issued, and practically there is no longer a chance for Iranian representatives to participate in these games.
The manager of the Muay Thai national teams stated: Before, the Americans refused to give visas to the archery, karate, and other disciplines in order to deprive our country’s national team of the opportunity to win a medal in this important and prestigious event.
He emphasized: “Iranian Muay Thai is considered one of the strengths of this discipline, and surely if the representatives of our country were present in these competitions, we would have witnessed their proud and powerful presence in front of their opponents.” Unfortunately, by interfering with politics in sports, America clearly violated the Olympic Charter and questioned the validity of this event.
