Ashtiani’s irony to Mostafavi: Do not blame the AFC for what you did not do

Amir Reza Vaez Ashtiani, in an interview with a sports reporter of Fars News Agency, regarding the possible elimination of Esteghlal and Persepolis from the Asian Champions League, said: “When our sports managers do not know how to make the right decision, we must witness such events.” One of the arts of management is decision making in critical situations. The manager must know the consequences of his decision in a critical situation and examine the angles of everything.

He added: “For almost a decade, I have given important talks and warnings to the tenth and eleventh governments about the problems in sports and especially the way the two clubs are managed. Unfortunately, Esteghlal and Persepolis have not been governed by commercial law during this period. If the board of directors of these two clubs had been elected on the basis of correct definitions, and the annual performance meeting of these two clubs would have been held regularly, they would not have been in this situation.

The former deputy head of the Physical Education Organization stressed: “The problems of these two clubs are so great that no one can solve them all at once. For example, it was said that these two clubs have debts of 100 billion, but my question is from the day this issue It was said, what did you do? An autopsy should be performed to find out where Aqaba is.

Ashtiani continued: “It is interesting that the managers who created such conditions in those days, now got better positions, but the conditions of these two clubs these days are due to carelessness, recklessness and non-observance of the law in the past.” All these issues are due to the lawlessness in the country’s sports, especially in the past, and now not only the two clubs but also the entire sports system is in trouble.

Referring to the role of the federation in the current situation of the two clubs, the former CEO of Esteghlal said: “The AFC informs the federation to check the issues yourself before we verify them.” The federation should also inform the clubs about their problems, but now the question is what have the managers done so far?

He pointed out that the initial committee for professional licensing should provide clubs with time to solve problems, regardless of union views and recommendations. If a club has a problem with ownership, administrative system, debt, etc., they should be warned. If this committee has done so, it should announce it clearly and to enlighten public opinion. For example, if a club fails, the committee must explicitly announce it. If this committee strictly enforces the law, but someone has mediated, it must still be announced. They always want to solve problems like housing; While this not only does not cure pain, but also makes the problems bigger.

The former deputy head of the Physical Education Organization emphasized that the fact that the AFC also threatened Emirati clubs and other countries shows that it has done justice. If this issue only included Esteghlal and Persepolis, it might have been thought that there was an intention, but now it can no longer be inferred. Today, I heard Mr. Mostafavi (Chairman of the Professional Licensing Appeals Committee) say that the AFC was cowardly, but please do not blame the AFC for what you did not do.

Ashtiani emphasized: it is better to be careful in our literature. Responsible people should be careful in their dialogues because these issues are all observed. One should not speak in such a way that the AFC officials think that a celebration has been taken or a point has been given. The job of this institution is to verify, and when we do not do our job well, some people put the blame on others.

He continued: “Unfortunately, every time something happens, they say that Esteghlal and Persepolis have the most fans, but the question is, why do you want to threaten the AFC with this tactic?” In Europe, if UEFA wants to fine a club, it does not look at the fans of that team, nor does it pay attention to the financial and economic backwardness of that club. The reality is that we have to come to our senses because we are constantly plagued by negligence.
