According to IRNA, the boxing matches of the Asian Championship started on Tuesday, November 10, in Amman, the capital of Jordan, and will continue until November 21. The Iranian team participated in this event with 12 boxers, and 10 representatives of our country were eliminated.
Today (Monday) the matches of the quarter-finals were held.
Tofan Sharifi, a 92 kg boxer from our country, fought with Parenko Sergi from Kyrgyzstan, who was declared the winner by the judges in the second round and confirmed his bronze medal. Storm ended the first round with 5 votes of the judges and in the second round his opponent was knocked down.
To qualify for the finals, Sharifi will have to fight with “Aibek Uralbai”, the 2018 Youth Olympic gold medalist and 2018 World Youth silver medalist from Kazakhstan, on Thursday.
Earlier, Seyed Shahin Mousavi won the bronze medal by reaching the semi-finals.
Iman Ramzanpour also entered the ring in the heavyweight division as the last boxer of our country in the quarter-finals against an opponent from India, and at the end of a close fight, he was defeated and eliminated.
