Regarding the criteria for inviting players to the army, he said: “Certainly, the potential of the players is the reason for inviting them to the national team.” We have more than 20 legionnaires and only 5 were invited. The criterion of performance in the army is and we do not have much to do with the past and the events of the day are the criterion of our choice. There were no replacements in the past and we valued their quality so much that it is very difficult to replace a golden and exceptional generation, but we try to invite the best players who can help Iranian volleyball to the national team.
Atai also said about the national team bodybuilding: “Our first option was an Italian bodybuilder who did not agree due to payment restrictions because we could not pay any number and figure.” Our next choice was Janas Vuچek, with whom we agreed. The necessary support from the federation has already taken place, and I hope that the situation will develop in such a way that this support will continue in the future.
He added: Do not compare the previous team with the current team. The current team should be given a chance. Sometimes they use the achievements of the previous team and the current team against each other, which is not a beautiful thing in Iranian volleyball. Changes have been made and these conditions must be accepted, and just as players like Saeed Maroof, Amir Ghafoor, Mohammad Mousavi, Shahram Mahmoudi and… were given the opportunity, we must also give young players the opportunity to find themselves in these difficult conditions.
