
According to Tasnim news agency, the fifth disciplinary commission of the Supreme Sports Court of Brazil was held yesterday (Tuesday) to investigate the involvement of five players in betting.
According to the Brazilian website “ge.globo” of the rulings of this court, former Vasco da Gama player Igor Catatao was banned from playing football and must pay a fine of 70,000 reals (equivalent to 14,000 dollars).
He is now playing in Iran’s Sepahan team and can play outside of Brazil, which does not include this ban. Katatao’s lawyer will appeal the verdict in the appeals court.
Other rulings of this court in the above betting case are as follows:
Mateosinio: 720 days suspension from football and a fine of 50 thousand Brazilian reals
Paolo Sergio: 720 days of suspension and a fine of 70 thousand Brazilian reals
Andre Quixo: A fine of 50 thousand reals
Katatao signed a contract with Sepahan club from the second half of the 22nd league season and recorded one goal and one assist in the 12 matches he played.
