Basketball Asia Cup/Hatami: We underestimated Jordan and paid a heavy price

Referring to the exclusion of the Iranian basketball team from the Asian Cup, Mehran Hatami said in an interview with IRNA’s reporter: “Jordan has shown that it is a good and motivated team in its previous games, and it proved this against China Tapie.”

The former head coach of the national basketball team, in response to the fact that Jordan had lined up with one more game against Saeed Armaghani’s students and Iran suffered a defeat despite resting, added: I think the main problem was that our children underestimated Jordan a lot. They were. Jordan is a good, young and motivated team that uses its opportunities well, but on the opposite side, we lost in a situation where we had the ability to dominate in this game, but the result was the opposite.

This basketball expert of our country stated: In this game, however good the Jordanians were, we performed poorly. Of course, they have spent a long time in basketball and have put many programs on their agenda, but I believe that our technical ability is such that we could win this game and leave the field victorious.

Iran’s national basketball team withdrew from the tournament after losing 91-76 against Jordan in the quarter-finals of the Asian Basketball Cup.
