First, introduce yourself.
I am Amirhossein Rezaei, the CEO and one of the founders of the Binge Bar startup. In the university, I chose the field of computer engineering, and participating in the selected and final projects of Khawarzmi Youth Festival, Basij Inventors Festival, Sempad Festival, and participating and winning various titles in pathfinder robot competitions are among my research records during my university years.
What exactly does Binge Bar offer?
We are actually the first direct selling system of rice by farmers in Iran, and we connect farmers to the final consumer without intermediaries. Of course, the strength of our service is that we do not make every farmer a member of our system, and we perform quality control at all stages and send guaranteed quality products to consumers.
How did you come up with the idea of Binge Bar?
Considering the unfair market that exists in the distribution of rice and other agricultural products, we decided to launch this system. At that time, by distributing questionnaires and interviewing different farmers and rice consumers in different provinces, we encountered a very good reception of this idea and decided to implement it.
Do you have competitors? What is your competitive advantage over your competitors?
No, so far, such a system has not been formed in the country in the field of rice, and we are the first example. Our competitors are also traditional bankers, and we have a very good competitive advantage over them due to our 100% quality guarantee and free returns. Also, we have a very good advantage in terms of price, especially compared to the provinces outside of Mazandaran. The last point is that on our platform, the rice is in the name of the farmer and it goes directly from the farmer to the final consumer.
Explain about the formation process of Binge Bar team.
The main people of our team are 4 people. I am the team manager and my dear friend and colleague, Eng. Mohammadi, is in charge of the technical department. Also, Mr. Engineer Aghajani has been managing the agricultural team, and at the same time, he is also a member of the Rice Genetics Research Institute of Mazandaran University of Agriculture. Ms. Tankabani is also responsible for recruiting and accepting farmers in our team.
How long did it take you to get to the initial version of your product?
We went from a raw idea to a commercial prototype in less than 5 months.
How did you enter the market?
With the cooperation of Mazandaran Science and Technology Park, we were mentioned in news agencies as the first system of direct sale of rice by farmers, and after that, we tried to become more known in the ecosystem of Iran by attending the Agrofood exhibition. We have also recently started advertising in cyber space at a limited level and soon we will start good advertising campaigns to get more and more known.
Have you ever faced a particular challenge?
The number of challenges was and still is very high, but we have tried to solve our problems with perseverance and effort. One of the basic and primary problems was communicating with the farmers and gaining their trust, thank God, we gradually gained this trust with our efforts and over time and due to the free extension services we provided. Our experts are with the farmers at every stage of cultivation for free and teach the farmers the latest agricultural solutions.
Have you envisioned other services to be offered on the Binge Bar platform?
Yes. We have various plans for the future, but for now it is better not to talk about them too much. But let me say that, God willing, Binj Bar plans to enter the export markets and introduce Iranian rice to the world markets.
