According to Tasnim news agency, Matisse Delicht’s transfer from Juventus to Bayern Munich with a contract of 77 million euros was one of the most important and expensive transfers in European football this summer. He left when three years had passed since his stay at Juventus and he still had two more years remaining on his contract. Delicht was one of the main pillars of the team in Juventus and his presence in this team along with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini increased his experience and skills in defense matters. However, he decided to leave the Old Lady and move to the Bundesliga.
In an interview with the German publication Kicker, Delicht explained the reason for his decision as follows: I still had two more years of contract with Juventus, but I had become a complete defender in this team and I felt that it was time for a new challenge in a new environment. Bayern Munich contacted me in June and I was immediately attracted to their offer.
The 22-year-old Delicht also stated about the pressure that will be on him from now on to play in the center of the defense line of Bayern Munich: When you play for big teams like Bayern Munich, you will always be under pressure. Bayern Munich’s style of play suits me because this team plays attacking.
In his three years in Turin, Delicht made 117 official appearances for Juventus and helped the team win the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup. He also scored 8 goals and provided three assists. With Delicht leaving Juventus, the club immediately signed former Torino defender Gleeson Bremer.
