According to Tasnim news agency, the Barcelona women’s football team, despite a 9-0 advantage over Osasuna in the Round of 16 of the Spanish Women’s Football Cup, was kicked out of the competition due to the use of an unauthorized player by the Spanish Football Federation. After the heavy defeat of its women’s team against Barcelona, the Osasuna club protested to the Spanish Football Federation and claimed that the 24-year-old Barcelona player Guis Ferreira was not allowed to play in the match between the two teams because he was a member of the Madrid CFF team last season. He received a red card in his last game for this team in this competition, and for that reason, he had to serve a suspension in the Spanish Women’s Football Cup, which in fact, he had to serve this suspension in the same match against Osasuna.
After examining Osasuna club’s claim and protest, the Spanish Football Federation announced that the Osasuna women’s team will go to the quarter-finals of the Spanish Women’s Football Cup instead of Barcelona and fined Barcelona 1001 euros. Barcelona club has 10 days to appeal the verdict. The Sevilla women’s team was excluded from the Women’s Football Cup for the same reason, despite having a 1-0 advantage over Villarreal.
Barcelona women’s team defeated Sociedad 3-0 in the Spanish Women’s Super Cup on Sunday night and won the championship.
