According to the Mehr news agency, Saeed Maroof stated in a press conference after the Peykan-Erbil match: The elimination stage has its own sensitivities. We started the game strong and the Iraqi team played better than we thought and showed more than it could.

In response to a question about the change in his moral character and the softening of his behavior, Maroof stated: I do not know if this change that you are saying really exists or not? I was not very strict in the past, but naturally, when I was in the national team, I was under a lot of pressure, especially from the media and the expectations that volleyball people liked.

He added: “Everyone is looking for the victory of the national team and these pressures make things harder.” I have been away from the margins for several years and I feel light. I did not change much, but the heavy responsibility that I had on the national team no longer exists.
