According to IRNA’s report on Monday evening, the Tajik Presidential Cup judo competition started on Monday morning in the city of “Khojand” and the national judo team of our country participated in this competition with three representatives.
Mehdi Fathipour, the representative of our country’s national judo team in the 81-kg category, faced the representative of the host country in the finals of this competition today, and finally settled for the silver medal.
Fathipour defeated Tajikistan’s “Najmuddin Mohammad Sharif” in the first fight and qualified for the second round. In the second round, Fathipour’s opponent refused to fight with him.
The representative of our country faced the representative of Uzbekistan in the round of 16 and with the defeat of “Tugayev” he made it to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Fathipour managed to knock out “Ghanijan Ghaniov” from Tajikistan in the last seconds and make it to the finals of the tournament. In the final of this competition, Fathipour faced “Hamroz Rajabov” from Tajikistan and finally won the silver medal.
Arash Mirasmaili, the head of the Judo Federation, was also added to the national team today.
Hossein Qomi is present as a coach with the national judo team. Babak Mohajeri, the head of the judges committee, is also with the national team.
Qasim Baghchaghi, the representative of our country weighing 91 kg, will face a judoka from Tajikistan tomorrow in the first fight.
