According to the Mehr correspondent, the commemoration ceremony of the death of world champion Gholamreza Takhti will be held on Friday, January 8, while the memory of this legend of chivalry will never disappear from the history of Iranian sports.
Despite the fact that the name of Jahan Pahlavan remains in the fabric of contemporary Iranian history, the sun of his life set very soon. There are many narratives about the cause and manner of death of Pahlavan Takhti Jahan, and the lack of documentation and certainty of each of them has made this bitter event mysterious.
Gholamreza Takhti was born on the 5th of September, 1309 in the south of Tehran, and passed away on the 17th of January, 1967, at the height of his popularity and pride. A child named Babak is remembered from the world of Pahlavan; A child who, unlike his father, did not take the ship, but always lives in the memory of his father and has even named his son “Gholamreza” in memory of the world champion.
Jahan Pahlavan Takhti in the last years of his short life faced many ups and downs from friends, teammates and even sports and political officials of that time. He endured various psychological and financial pressures in those days, and finally, on January 7, 1967, his body was found in a room in the Atlantic Hotel in Tehran. The strange thing was that two days before his death, he registered a will in the notary public office and introduced Kazem Hasibi as the guardian of his son Babak, who was only 4 months old at the time. The throne was the crystallization of a nation’s aspirations. He is a symbol of our history. A man who lived among the people and finally his body calmed down in the presence of a large number of the same people and the streets and bazaars in Ibn Babawiyah, the city of Rey.
Unfortunately, the Iranian sports scene has been empty of such heroes and heroines for many years, and perhaps it can be claimed that fewer athletes have been able to have a special impact on the culture and daily life of their fans like Takhti.
