According to Fars News Agency, 20 years ago, in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers between Korea and Japan, our national team played against Ireland in the return round, and in the final moments, with a goal by Yahya Golmohammadi, it won 1-0. Iran could not qualify for the World Cup due to a 2-0 loss in Dublin and did not qualify for the competition.

On the twentieth anniversary of the match, “Ritchie McCormack” wrote about the game: “The secret and need of the Iranians before the game started was the most beautiful and fascinating event of the day for me.”

Before the start of the match at Azadi Stadium, a few verses of the Quran were recited and the fans shouted “Allah” together, and this caused the foreign reporter to react to this issue and talk about the beauty of this event.
