According to the Mehr reporter, after announcing the approvals of the technical staff of the national freestyle wrestling team regarding the selection cycle and introducing the international competitions of the Throne Cup as one of the stages of this cycle, the runners-up claimants of the national team opened a special account on this domestic tournament.
Although participation in the Takhti Cup qualifiers as the second stage of the national team selection cycle was a priority for the freestyle wrestlers, the time and place of these competitions have not been determined yet. Meanwhile, the provinces of Mazandaran and Kermanshah have announced to host the Takhti Cup, and after determining the host of the Takhti Cup qualifying competitions, we can hope that these competitions will be held in one of these two provinces.
The selection cycle of the national freestyle wrestling team started in late December with the holding of the national championship in Gorgan, and the winners of these competitions were introduced as the passengers of the Asian championships. Thus, Reza Momeni (57 kg), Dariush Hazrat Gholizadeh (61 kg), Rahman Amouzad (65 kg), Mohammad Mehdi Yeganeh Jafari (70 kg), Younes Emami (74 kg), Ali Savadkoohi (79 kg), Mohsen Mostafavi (86 kg) ), Amir Hossein Firoozpour (92 kg), Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian (97 kg) and Yadollah Mohebbi (125 kg) must compete in April 1401 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
But other freestyle wrestlers are looking forward to participating in the second stage of the qualifying round, or the qualifying round of the Throne Cup, to participate in the Asian Games and World Championships, in order to remain on the course of competing for the national team runner-up.
Undoubtedly, the second stage of the selection cycle is in the hands of the freestyle wrestlers who did not win the throne cup quota in the national championship and have now run away with all their might to obtain the license for this cup.
Although the exact time and place of this stage of the selection cycle has not been determined yet, but according to the calendar of the Wrestling Federation, it seems that the selection competitions for the Throne Cup will be held in April next year, so that the Throne Cup tournament will be held in June.
However, so far, all the contenders for the national freestyle wrestling team runner-up in the national championships have competed, and only Alireza Sarlak, Mohammad Nakhodi, Hassan Yazdani, Kamran Ghasempour, Mojtaba Golij and Amir Hossein Zare were exempted from participating in these competitions at the discretion of the technical staff.
According to the Mehr reporter, Iranian wrestling has important events ahead of it in 2022, which will start in April next year with the participation in the Asian Championship. The wrestlers will then face two other major international arenas, the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and the World Championships in Serbia, respectively. For this reason, the technical staff of the national freestyle wrestling team has considered a written program for equipping and preparing the national team, which will start with the establishment of the camp in March.
