According to IRNA, the judo team competition of the Solidarity Games of Islamic countries was held today (Wednesday) in the city of Konya, Turkey, and the Iranian men’s and women’s teams competed on the tatami.

In the men’s section, the Iranian team with the combination of Hamidreza Papi, Vahid Jedi, Mehdi Fathipour, Qasim Baghchaqi and Hamidreza Malekzade had a break first and then won against Turkmenistan and reached the semi-finals.

Our country’s team lost 3-1 against the host team and failed to reach the finals. Iran’s judo men passed Senegal’s barrier with a score of 3-0 and won the bronze medal.

In the women’s section, the Iranian team with the combination of Shiva Jahangiri, Sayan Chegini, Mohaddeh Hosseini, Maryam Barbat and Maryam Peymani lost in the first game against Kyrgyzstan. Our country’s team continued to lose to Turkey, but the low number of participating teams made it face Algeria to win the bronze medal.

The Iranian women’s team continued its poor performance and lost against Algeria to end its career with three consecutive losses.

Our country’s judokas failed to win a medal in the individual division in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
