
According to IRNA, the 13th World Youth Taekwondo Championship has started this morning, Tuesday, the 11th of August, hosted by Bulgaria in the city of Sofia, with the participation of 768 taekwondo players from different countries.
On the first day of this competition, the 42- and 44-kg weights for girls and 45-kg for boys were held.
Pernia Salmani was the second representative of Iran in the first night of the tournament in the weight of -44 kg, and in the final fight she faced “Vasana” from Thailand. This match started in the first round with Salmani winning 4:3. But the representative of our country lost the result to the competitor in the next two rounds and won the valuable silver medal.
Salmani started his career with a 2-0 victory over “Karen Arajo” from Brazil, and then he defeated “Kaminska” from Poland in a match close to 2-1 (7-7 winner of the representative of Poland – 13-3 winner of Pernia – third round 10 wins) 7 winner of Pernia) and then with a 2-0 victory against “Okazaki” from Japan, he went to the semi-finals. At this stage, this worthy taekwondo player of our country beat “Huang Chin Yun” from Chinese Taipei two to one and went to the final match.
Before Salmani, Sogand Shiri had won the gold medal in the -42 kg weight, so that the Iranian national team had a good start in this tournament with one gold and one silver.
The leadership of the national junior team in the girls’ group is under the responsibility of Fatemeh Safarpour, and Nilufar Safarian and Akhtar Kiani accompany her as coaches. In the boys section, Mohammadreza Zovar is the head coach and Behzad Khodadad and Masoud Kazempour are his colleagues.
