In an interview with Fars news agency’s sports reporter, Fatemeh Mohammadkhani said about the beginning of the 18th edition of the country’s women’s handball league: This year’s league will start tomorrow with the participation of 8 teams from all over the country. The Hormozgan Steel team, which is newly established and has recently stepped into the field of team ownership, has very good conditions, due to the new conditions of the club and the team, it has been about a week since we formed the team and selected the players. Hormozgan club is also a strong club and has very good financial conditions. This is a happy news for women’s handball that a club has come in the south of the country and has a team in women’s handball. I hope it will be a good platform for players from the south of the country to develop themselves in women’s handball.

He added: This year’s premier handball league will be a youth league, and considering the players who are present, we will see good competition among the teams. On the other hand, the national players were distributed in all the teams and the competition between all the present teams will be dynamic, in a way it can be said that the league has come from being one-sided and good things are happening in women’s handball. I feel that the level of this year’s league is not comparable to previous years, because most of the players in different age groups experienced international Asian and world competitions, and this helps to increase the quality level of the league. In fact, the experience of national players makes other players learn from them and perform better.

Regarding Hormozgan Steel Club’s program in the 18th edition of the Women’s Handball League, Mohammad Khani said: The club has spent a lot of money this season, and we were able to attract good players, and I hope we can appear strong in this year’s league. Our team is a young team and we tried to keep the level of the team high by using the same experience. Most of the youth players are natives of the south of the country, who have been given this opportunity to participate in the women’s handball league. Hormozgan Steel Club has planned for the coming years and intends to become the handball talent pool of the country, which is admirable in its place.

* The weakness of women’s handball is the lack of players in the goalkeeper position

Regarding the presence of foreign players in the league and their influence, he said: Look, we have many handball players in Iran, but the number of goalkeepers in this field is very small, and this is considered a weakness for women’s handball. It is true that the presence of foreign players raises the level of our league and increases the competition between players, but we must pay attention to the fact that we must develop and build players in the goalkeeper position. Fatemeh Khalili is currently playing in the Turkish league, if she was in Iran, we would definitely use her. His presence could also help us a lot in the goalkeeping department. We currently have good goalkeepers who shined in the world championships and were able to be selected as the best player, but their number is few and we have to think about it.

Mohammad Khani further added: With the arrival of Monica, young and promising goalkeepers can take full advantage of her presence in the league, she is a very good player even at a young age and can be of great help in the league. He has played for the national team of Uzbekistan in youth and senior levels and has good experience in this field.

* The contracts are not satisfactory, but they are better than before

The head coach of Hormozgan Steel team also said about the handball players’ contracts in the league: In the last 2 years, the players’ contracts have become better than before. If we want to compare with basketball and volleyball, it is still the lowest salary for handball and the players have a low salary, which we hope will be solved gradually.
