Head of Iranian Embassy in Japan: We spare no efforts in cooperation with our country’s sports teams

Mohammad Reza Loqmani The Head of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Japan said in an interview with IRNA’s sports reporter about the national basketball team’s camp in this country: I watched the games of the national basketball team. It was an interesting meeting. Although some of the team’s children did not have the experience of participating in international games, they played well against Japan and it was a good preparatory match for our country’s team. National basketball players are a source of pride for Iran and we hope that we will always see the tricolor flag of Iran being raised in sports fields and that they will be successful on their way to the World Cup.

Regarding the actions of the embassy during the national basketball team’s camp in Japan, Loqmani said: Considering the match was held in Sendai, which was far from Tokyo, it was not possible for the embassy colleagues to attend the stadium, but we were at the service of the team in Tokyo. Also, even though the tickets for the Iranian games were sold, consultations were held and a number of tickets were prepared and given to our compatriots.

The Head of the Iranian Embassy in Japan pointed out that sports diplomacy is one of the main factors of participation in various international sports arenas. In this regard, during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we saw the very good cooperation of Iranians living in Japan, a fan committee was formed of Iranian athletes and they had very wide support.

Loqmani added: Iranians living in Japan inform about the presence of Iranian teams in this country through Telegram channels, and in Sendai city, based on the notification, Iranian spectators attended the venues of the games.
