Seyed Shahram Heravi In an interview with IRNA on Thursday, he stated: The third phase of the national team training camps will end today, Thursday. The next stage of the camp will be held from 5 to 11 May in the Enqelab Sports Complex.
Regarding the timing of the national team selection, he said: “The campers will hold their training sessions according to the schedule in order to reach suitable conditions.” The four-weight selection campaigns will be held on the 7th and 8th of June. Also, the selection of 75 kg weight will be done on June 16th.
Heravi said about the return of “Bahman Asgari” to the training of the national karate team: He was on the course for a while, but he did his training personally. He has been back in the army for a few days now and he is well motivated.
The head coach of the national karate team explained about Asgari’s chances to participate in various competitions: In the 75 kg weight category, he has opponents such as Ali Asghar Asyabri, Saman Adalati, Alireza Heidari and Mehdi Shahgol, who must compete in a selection.
What decision has Heravi made regarding participating in important leading competitions (Islamic Games, Asian Championships and Asian Games)? “The technical staff is the final decision maker,” he said. A karateka may participate in all three events, or we may send a separate team. We do not have preparatory competitions and we have not been sent to an event for some time, so the technical staff must consider all aspects.
