The World Volleyball Federation (FIVB) recently announced how 24 teams (12 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams) will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic indoor volleyball tournament, and France, as the host, won the first quota in each gender group.
The other 11 teams in each men’s and women’s division will be determined in two stages, six teams in each division will win the 2024 Olympic quota in the Olympic qualifiers, and the rest of the teams will be determined after the 2024 League of Nations qualifying table is determined.
According to the announcement of the FIVB, the 2023 World Cup will also be a qualifying competition for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which will be hosted by Japan in September and October 1402.
Japan will be one of the three hosts of the Olympic qualifying competitions, and the other two hosts of these competitions will be announced soon by the World Volleyball Federation.
In the report of the World Federation about Japan’s hosting of these competitions, it is stated: The Volleyball World Cup, which is traditionally known in Japan, will be held in the women’s section from 25 September to 2 October 1402, and the men’s World Cup will be held from 8 to 16 October next year. And the participating teams will be determined on December 28 this year.
Earlier, the World Federation had announced that the top 24 teams according to the senior volleyball world rankings will compete in the selection competition in three eight-team groups, and the top two teams of each group will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Accordingly, after introducing the three hosts, the draw of 24 teams will be made according to the rules of the World Federation, and Japan will host eight teams.
Also, the remaining five Olympic quotas in each gender will be completed by the selection of the top five qualified teams in the World Federation ranking by the end of the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) qualifying round.
