According to the reporter of Mehr, the Central Asian football tournament in 2023 will experience a special event. The senior age group football matches of this region will be held for the first time with the possible presence of the Russian national team in June.
Russia has been banned from participating in international competitions for more than a year due to the military attack on Ukraine by the World Football Federation and the European Football Union.
In the last year, the football federation of this country has met with several Asian teams, namely Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Iraq, and the process of playing with Asian teams will probably continue by participating in the CAFFA tournament.
According to the plans, Russia will be added to the group of Central Asian countries to experience participation in an official tournament for the first time after being banned.
Although many experts refer to this plan as a serious decision to transfer Russia to Asian football, the Russian Federation has not officially confirmed this news.
But the important point of these events is the confirmation of the agreement of the Central Asian countries with the participation of Russia in the Kafa tournament by the Iranian Football Federation.
The Russian “Sport 24” site wrote in this regard: “Iranian Football Federation announced that all participants in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship agree with the participation of the Russian team in this tournament, which will be held this summer.”
A member of the Iranian Football Federation told the Russian media in this regard: “As far as we know, all the participants in the CAF summer tournament – that is, the teams of Iran, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – are aware of the presence of the Russian team in the summer tournament. They support Central Asian football. “There are only a few details left for all the participating teams to iron out and sign the official papers.”
