Iranian volleyball experienced its longest spring and summer this year, and our country’s men’s and women’s national teams participated in 16 official events and played in a total of 121 matches.
Iran’s volleyball representatives started their matches with Kornakia Cup on 27 April, and the Iranian national team faced Brazil in the last overseas match in the men’s world championship on 16 September, so that our country’s national team played 121 matches in a period of 144 days, i.e. Average of two matches every three days.
In total, 202 teams from different continents of the world participated in 16 events in which Iranian representatives participated, and all national players in different age groups gained the experience of competing with transcontinental teams in 1401.
9 medals including three gold, four silver and two bronze and three quotas of world competitions were the result of Iran’s volleyball efforts in 1401 in various competitions.
Referee: We didn’t have a free day
In explaining the performance of the national teams in the 16 events held, the head of the volleyball federation stated: The volleyball federation has passed two busy seasons and we have not had a single day off in the last 6 months, and we had numerous camps and programs for all age groups.
Referee Mohammad Reza Davrzani emphasized: “In no year has Iran volleyball had such a program and has not been under pressure.” We were also alone to cover the expenses. Billion trips that we financed all by ourselves.

Mohsen Mansouri, the new member of the volleyball federation’s board of directors, announced his readiness to improve the federation’s relationship with various institutions and said: “Perhaps many concerns can be solved with the lowest cost in Tehran province.”

Taherian: Women’s conditions have changed
The former vice president of the National Olympic Committee also said in this meeting that volleyball is Iran’s national women’s sport and said: “I am happy that the conditions of women’s volleyball have changed a lot compared to the past.”
Tahereh Taherian said: I am happy that the conditions of women’s volleyball have changed a lot. In the past, it was not even possible to compete with foreign teams in Tehran for Iran’s national women’s volleyball teams, but thanks to Dr. Davarzani and the special attention of the board of directors and the head of the federation, an unprecedented investment in women’s volleyball has taken place.
Salehi Amiri: Volleyball can become the first sport of the country
The former head of the National Olympic Committee, who was one of the special guests of this meeting, emphasized that Iran’s volleyball capacity is unique and said: “Iranian volleyball goes to many countries, and this means that it has national prestige and is priceless.”
Seyyedreza Salehi Amiri emphasized: One of the continuous discussions I had with the referee and I repeat today. If we have a special investment in volleyball, we can bring a much larger population to volleyball, which is good for the sport of the country.
He added: If the referee stays for another decade and works with the same seriousness, he can make volleyball the first sport in the country and more millions of people will be attracted to this sport.
Atai and Rashidi’s report to the board of directors
In this meeting, the head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team explained the performance report of the national team in the three events of the 2021 Asian Men’s Championship, the 2022 League of Nations and the 2022 World Men’s Championship.
Behrouz Atai said: For the Asian Championship, which was held about 50 days after the Olympics, we went to Japan with five Olympic players and with the most changes compared to the teams of the Asian continent. It is possible to draw conclusions without stars.
He continued: We started this year’s preparation camp for the League of Nations with 40 players in two groups, and the average age of the team in the League of Nations was 24 years old, and we gained valuable experience. 13 players saw the League of Nations up close for the first time. In the first week of the League of Nations, we had an average performance and finished the first week with two wins and two losses.
The head coach of the national team added: With the good guidance of the group, the psychological burden was reduced and the Iranian national volleyball team finished seventh overall with seven wins and five losses. We had two very good wins against America and Poland in this tournament.
He said about the participation of national team B in the solidarity games of Islamic countries: Team B, under the guidance of Azim Jazideh, went to the competitions of Islamic countries and became the champion.
Atai continued: 15 days after the League of Nations, we participated in the Wagner Cup and won the bronze medal for the first time, and we finished 13th in the World Men’s Championship as in the previous edition. The World Men’s Championship is the most important and hardest competition after the Olympics. The game against the Netherlands made the path of the Iranian team difficult and the goal was not achieved.
The head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team said that all the teams that performed well in the League of Nations did not perform well in the world championship. There was an important difference between the teams that saw the League of Nations as a preparation and those that saw the League as a goal. Finally, Iran’s position did not decrease compared to the past. There are shortcomings that need to be addressed. We didn’t have any shortcoming during the competition, and we have to thank the board of directors and Dr. Davrezni, who implemented and supported our programs in every way.

The Board of Directors of the Volleyball Federation agreed to form a special working group to review the status of the federation’s right to 10% of the contract of the national team players.
According to the bylaws of the league organization, the volleyball federation has the right to 10% growth from the contracts of the players in domestic and foreign leagues, and this right is not received from the players if the national teams win a position.
For this reason, the right of 10% of the federation from the national team contract was one of the topics discussed in this meeting. The members of the volleyball federation’s board of directors discussed this issue and it was decided to prepare a specific and specific instruction for this issue by forming a specialized and special working group. should be done so that this issue can be done more transparently while respecting the efforts of the nationals of our country.
In this meeting of the board of directors, the financial performance of the federation was explained by Mahdi Eslami, the treasurer of the volleyball federation, and it was approved that the investment of the volleyball federation in the women’s section was appreciated and supported by the members.
Also, the road map and the formula for the promotion of the teams to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games were explained and analyzed, and the members expressed their opinions in this regard.
