In the first meeting of the city of Gdansk, the national volleyball teams of Iran and Italy faced each other and the students of Behrouz Atai were defeated by the full team of Italy three to one to experience their fifth failure and the number of wins and losses of the Iranian team was equal.

In the second set, the Iranian team won 27-25, but in the first, third and fourth sets, they lost to their strong opponent with the scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-23, respectively.

The Iranian national volleyball team started this match with the composition of Milad Ebadipour, Amirhossein Esfandiar, Mehdi Jaloh, Mohammad Taher Wadi, Amin Ismailnejad, Amirhossein Tokhte and Mohammad Reza Hazratpour.

In the second set, Morteza Sharifi came to the field instead of Esfandiar. Italy won the first point and the superiority of this team was still considered until Behrouz Atai requested a timeout in favor of Italy with a score of 9:5. In the continuation of the game, the national team improved on the field and the two teams tied at 11 points, and the technical break time of this set reached 12-11 in favor of Iran. The competition between the two teams in this set was close and close, and in the end Behrouz Atai’s students won this set 27-25, so that the two teams were tied one-on-one in terms of the number of sets.

Iran’s national volleyball team scored four points in a row at the beginning of the third set so that Djorji was forced to take a break. The two teams were tied at 10 points and the technical break was 12-10 in favor of Italy. In the continuation of this set, the mistakes of the Iranian players increased and in the score 21-18 in favor of Italy, Atai requested a time-out and the Iranian team won three points in a row. In the end, this set was 25-23 in favor of Italy, so that the Iranian team fell behind by 2-1 in the set count. Amirreza Sarlek came to the field from the beginning of this set instead of showing off, and Esfandiar joined the national team in the middle of the field.

DiGeorgi’s students won the first point of the fourth set. Amin Ismailnejad scored two consecutive service points in favor of Italy at 13-9 and the head coach of Italy was forced to take a break. The two teams tied at 15 points. In the end, the Iranian team gave the result of this set 25-23 to their opponent, so that they lost 3-1 to Italy.

Simone Anzani, Ivan Zaitsev, Daniele Lavia, Gianluca Galassi, Simone Giannelli and Alessandro Michelito were the Italian team at the beginning of this match.

Mohammadreza Davarzani, head of the volleyball federation, watched this match along with Iranians living in Poland. Iranian spectators cheered the Iranian team throughout the match.

Iran’s men’s volleyball team will face Slovenia in their 11th match in the League of Nations on Friday, July 17 at 19:30.
