Mehdipour: We don’t lack anything from the boxing powers of the world; We hope to win a medal

Reza Mehdipour In an interview with IRNA regarding the conditions of the Iranian youth boxing team, he said: The second stage of our team’s camp to participate in the World Championships in Spain is currently being held. We invited 17 people and three boxers were selected. In the future, we will keep 10 athletes.

Regarding how many boxers are going to the World Championships in Spain, he said: These competitions will be held in Alicante, Spain from November 22, and we have to see how many boxers will be sent by the Overseas Council. But our opinion is to send 6 boxers. From this number, we will send more people to the world in low weights.

Stating that the distance between Iran’s boxing and the world’s powers has decreased, Mahdipour explained: In the last period of the world youth fights in Poland, most of our losses were against Russia and Uzbekistan, and we even came within one step of a medal. If we have some luck so that the judges look at us more kindly, we hope to win a medal.

The head coach of Iran’s youth boxing team said: Although the youth team’s preparation time was short and we didn’t have a preparatory meeting, but even with this wealth, we can become a problem for the boxing powers of the world.

In response to the question, why the youth team has not had a joint camp or an international friendly match? He said: The Indian youth team was supposed to come to Iran, but it canceled at the last moment. It is past time to camp with Syria and Iraq because training with them has no benefit for us. The federation is trying to have a camp or a meeting with Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan.
