Mirasmaili: The suspension of judo does not include games of Islamic countries

According to IRNA, “Arash Mirasmaili” told reporters on the day before (Tuesday) before the start of the extraordinary meeting of the National Olympic Committee: “I hope that today the right decision will be made for Iranian sports.” At the previous meeting, I announced that the voting would be in writing, but unfortunately it did not happen. The two announced dates are not much different, but I will vote for the committee elections on August 20, because it is after the games of solidarity between Islamic countries. I will consider the benefits of the sport under my supervision and I believe that the current officials can be until August 20 because they have a plan.

He continued: “We have a clear position and I declare that the National Olympic Committee should be run by the sports family to stay away from politics.” The Ministry of Sports may need more politicians because of its connection to the government. The National Olympic Committee belongs to Iranian sports and should be chaired by sports people. Do not let political loved ones enter. The committee is more specialized than anywhere and should be headed by an athlete. As a sportsman, I declare that in the next elections, it is time to choose a sportsman. The election of the National Olympic Committee should not be prolonged because elections will be held in the world after the Olympics.

Regarding the final verdict in the case of the Iranian Judo Federation, the President of the Judo Federation also noted: The verdict is scheduled to be issued tomorrow, I hope it will not be postponed to another time. During the time that the Iranian judo case was underway, I have complaints because we were not supported from within and some events took place from within.

Referring to the sending of judokas to the Islamic Solidarity Games, Mirasmaili said: “The team will be sent because these games will not be held under the supervision of the World Federation and the International Olympic Committee.” We are excluded from all competitions that will be held under the auspices of these two international organizations, but we can participate in competitions that are held independently by countries. Of course, the team will be sent to St. Petersburg soon, and those matches will also be held by Russia.
