Mohammadian: Taekwondo youngsters made history in the world

According to the sports reporter of Fars news agency, the world junior taekwondo competition ended with our country’s national taekwondo team winning 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals. At the end of this tournament, Masoumeh Mohammadian, the head coach of the Iranian girls’ national team, was chosen as the best coach of the world junior taekwondo competition.

Masoumeh Mohammadian, in an interview with the sports reporter of Fars news agency, in response to the question that these competitions were held with new rules and how the technical conditions of these competitions were according to the changes that had been made, said: The level of the competitions was technically very high . Some countries even thought at the level of teenagers. Anyway, the rules of the tournament had changed and that’s why we saw some quality matches.

He further added: This period of competitions was of special sensitivity and considering that during these two years the outbreak of Corona caused the closure of the competitions and all the countries were waiting for the start of the competitions. In fact, all the teams in the world were thirsty to win championships and medals in these competitions.

In response to the question whether the change of the rules had an effect on the refereeing, he said: Anyway, the rules had been changed and this round of competitions was held completely differently. The competitions were held in two rounds and with 5 warnings. It was the first time that the competitions were held in this way before the Asian Youth Championship. Our children had not participated in any domestic event and had not even participated in any international competition. We held an open selection stage in the country, where 800 participants were present and finally 6 people were selected and went to the competition. This was the first time that we sent 6 weights in the Junior World Championship.

The head coach of the Taekwondo National Taekwondo team of our country continued his speech and said: In this competition, a history was made in which we won 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in 6 weight categories and we managed to win the world championship title for Iran. In the past, the competitions were held in 10 weights, and this is a good thing for Iranian taekwondo.

At the end of his speech, in response to the question that you were selected as the best coach in the world and how do you feel now, he added: I am very happy that this happened to me and I thank God that in this period of the competition as I was chosen as the best coach in the world, because out of the 6 representatives we had in this tournament, all 6 won medals.
