According to Mehr reporter, Vahid Moradi said about the achievements of his recent trip on the sidelines of the “Olympic Century” medal winners ceremony: I traveled to Lausanne to participate in the VNL ceremony. The presidents of the federations of other countries were also present and the VNL plans for the next year were discussed in detail and voting was done and approved.
He also said about his meeting with the head of the World Federation: We had a meeting with the officials of the World Federation that had very good results. I hope the results of this meeting can have a positive impact on Iranian volleyball.
Regarding the elections of the volleyball federation and the conditions of the headship of this federation, Moradi noted: The world federation does not get involved in these issues. The emphasis of the World Federation is that we only support the president of the Asian Confederation, who is supposed to be elected in August. Our federation is considered one of the big federations of the world federation.
Regarding the re-registration of the Volleyball Federation elections after 6 months, he said: There have been changes in the election regulations, which do not mention whether it is possible to register after 6 or 4 months. The interpretation of the friends in the ministry is that it was left open because if the friends of the ministry had an opinion, it would not be a legal restriction to re-register. Their argument is that new people can register. We are waiting for the opinion of the Ministry of Sports to move things forward.
Moradi said about the selection of the head coach of the national team: the reality is that friends who say that time is short, I don’t know on what basis they are making this statement. Some of our players are playing in world leagues and are not in Iran. Our league lasts until the end of April. We have one month from the beginning of May to have a joint camp with the presence of all players and legionnaires. My appeal is to look at these issues with the same sensitivity that the federation has. Haste in choosing a head coach will not help us. We have very little chance for the Olympics and we have to win 9 out of 12 games. We have a difficult and complicated task, but it is not impossible.
The best way is to recruit one of the best in the world with tact and patience so that we don’t lose this small chance. I hope God will help us to make people’s hearts happy.
