According to IRNA, the 25th edition of the World Karate Championships will start on Tuesday, November 16th, hosted by the UAE and in Dubai.
Accordingly, the selection competitions of the Iranian men’s national team were held today (Saturday) in the Shahid Kabkanian Hall in Tehran in different weights.
Sajjad Ganjzadeh, the world champion and Olympic gold medalist, competed against Saleh Abazari in the evening round fights in the weight category plus 84 kg. In the first match, he won 6: 3.
But it was Abazari who won two consecutive fights with a score of three to two.
In competitions of this weight, each person who achieved three victories became a passenger of the world competitions.
Then, while everyone was waiting for the fourth fight, for reasons that are said to be refereeing issues, Ganjzadeh did not appear on the tatami and left the hall. Most of today’s fights in different weights were accompanied by many protests of karatekas.
According to the Karate Federation, the staff is supposed to decide on the fixed person of this weight, but IRNA’s follow-up shows that Saleh Abazari will be the fixed person in the UAE World Championships and Ganjzadeh must play in the team committee.
Also in the weight of minus 60 kg, Ali Meskin became a passenger of world competitions.
In the morning competitions, Amir Mehdizadeh, who suffered heavy defeats in the weight of minus 67 kg, refused to participate in the round fights after three consecutive losses and left the hall.
Seyed Ali Karimi (minus 67 kg), Zabihullah Pourshib (minus 84 kg) and Ali Asghar Asyabari (minus 75 kg) reached the main lineup.
