
On Friday, Vahid Momeni told IRNA reporter on the sidelines of the country’s championship boys karate tournament in Gonbadkavos: Athletes of this discipline who always win medals in international competitions do not have a karate house, and we hope that this challenge will be solved with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
He announced the number of organized athletes in this field to be more than 200,000 and said: “By summing up the athletes who are not active in an organized way, this number reaches about 400,000 to 500,000.”
Momeni called the games of Islamic countries in the adult age group, leagues of the World Federation, the World Championships of Turkey and the Asian Championships in Uzbekistan as the most significant programs ahead of the Karate Federation.
He said: “Last year, Iran lost participation in the World Championships due to the spread of Corona virus, but by participating in the Asian Games in Kazakhstan, we won colorful medals, which promoted Iran’s status.”
The Secretary of the Karate Federation emphasized: Iranian karate practitioners can show the world more than ever Iran’s capacities in the field of sports in the upcoming international competitions.
Momeni also listed Golestan as one of the medal-rich provinces in the men’s karate field and expressed hope that the athletes of this field will bring beautiful medals to the country in the women’s section.
According to IRNA, boys’ karate competitions in the age group of teenagers, youths and hope of national championship and selection of the national team with the participation of more than a thousand athletes from yesterday Thursday morning in 15 weights and 2 categories of fighting (committee) and kata (demonstration movements) in the sports hall.
