According to IRNA; This round of competitions started this Friday with the participation of 240 taekwondo athletes hosted by France at the “Marcel Garden” sports hall in Paris. The Iranian team has appeared in the women’s division with three representatives in this event.
On the first day of these competitions, Nahid Kiani in minus 57 kg weight defeated European bronze medalist Madeleine Fulgman from Germany. Later, he faced “Jade Jones”, the owner of 2 Olympic gold medals, gold, silver and bronze medals in the world, and several colorful European and Grand Prix medals from England, and won two consecutive rounds to reach the quarter finals.
He then faced the Asian and Asian Games champion Zhongshilu from China, and despite a lot of effort, he lost and withdrew from the tournament.
Kausar Asaseh in the weight minus 67 kg and Akram Khodabandeh in the weight plus 67 kg are the other representatives of Iran in these competitions who will compete in the coming days. Mino Madah as the head coach and Hadi Saei as the supervisor accompany the national team.
According to the announcement of the World Taekwondo Federation, the champion of this tournament will be awarded 60 points, the second place 36 points and the third place 21.6 points in order to increase the Olympic ranking points.
