Participation in the league is the only source of income for wrestlers – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr news agency, Yunus Emami, the 74 kg freestyle wrestler of our country, who will soon compete in the World Championships in Serbia, said: I don’t think anyone came to wrestling to earn money, because it is a hard and heavy sport. Anyway, everyone who came to wrestling and stayed in this field is definitely because of their fighting spirit and love for this sport. Finally, if you can win an Olympic and World gold medal, it will definitely bring financial benefits.

He continued: I entered the national teams as a teenager, and when I reached the senior level, I was 65 kg, and then I reached 70 kg and was able to win the bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup. After that, due to the holding of the Tokyo Olympics, I reached the weight of 74 kg, which is an Olympic weight, but I could not appear in the Olympics. After that, I competed in this weight at the World Championships in Norway last year, but I did not succeed.

Regarding the possibility of changing the weight again, Emami said: I will not do this because my physique and physical condition are suitable for a weight of 74 kg, and I am looking to stay at this weight and adjust my strength and physical fitness to match this weight. For sure, the more I compete in this weight, the more experienced and mature I will become.

Regarding his main opponents in the world competitions, he said: American Kyle Duck, who has three world golds and Olympic bronze, is my main opponent. The Russian wrestler of Slovakian origin, the Georgian wrestler and the Italian Frank Chamizo are also among my other prominent opponents in this weight. Of course, we have seen and analyzed the video of these wrestlers with the technical staff, and I hope that with people’s prayers, I will be able to perform the best.

Azadkar of the national team added: Anyway, the championship life is not long and I will try to be in the national team as long as I can wrestle mentally and physically.

In the end, Emami mentioned the issue of income generation in wrestling and added: Fortunately, the wrestling league has improved compared to previous years and wrestlers can cover part of their expenses by participating in these tournaments. Of course, officials also make promises, but most of them are not fulfilled. The Ministry of Sports and Youth has also considered a reward for the medal winners, which was better in previous years considering that it was paid in the form of gold coins, but now it is paid in the form of Riyals. Unfortunately, it is also returned after a few years and with a delay, and it cannot be counted on for the support of life.
