Pedro Almodوارvar’s film Standing 5 Minutes Applauded / Mask Banned at Festival

On the opening night, Almodوارvar’s “Similar Mothers” was greeted with a standing ovation from the audience for 5 minutes.

Last night, after the screening of “Similar Mothers”, director Pedro Almodوارvar and actor Penelope Cruz did not put a mask on their faces while cheering for a 5-minute standing ovation.
The 78th Venice Film Festival was held the day before (September 1) with changes from the past.
At this year’s festival, there are strict rules, including the need to have a vaccination card and social distance when showing a film. These strict rules caused some stars of “Similar Mothers” to watch the film for two hours with a mask on.
In “Similar Mothers,” the seventh collaboration between Almodوارvar and Penelope Cruz, the Spanish star plays a successful female fashion photographer who faces a moral dilemma after becoming a mother. The film has received rave reviews outside the festival.
