Persepolis coach: We are the leader, but we can improve/ With the departure of Lokadia, the team’s capacity increased

According to Fars news agency and quoted by Persepolis club website, Osmar Los Vieira talked about his assessment of Iranian football, working in Persepolis club and the chances of this team to win this Premier League season.
* First, let’s talk about Iranian football and your overall view of the Iranian league. What aspects of Iranian football have been most interesting to you?
The first thing that comes to my mind about Iranian football is that it is really hard to play in this league. The players have a great sense of competition and a fighting spirit. Most of the games are hard and tactically you have little room to execute your plans. Another thing that comes to my mind about the Iranian Premier League is that in this league it is very important that you score the first goal, and from a tactical point of view, I also realized that in a large part of their game, the teams want to use long balls, crosses. and also use numerous counterattacks.
Almost six months have passed since you were in Iran and Persepolis. What is your assessment of the team’s conditions during this period?
I am very happy to be here. During this time, I saw how the fans support their team and actually love Persepolis. Unfortunately, we don’t have them with us in the stadiums for several games. This year we have a good team on the field and we have strong players in all four lines. I know that all team members have goals for themselves, but team goals are more important for all of us. We have had a good process so far and we must continue to improve in order to reach the goals we have defined.
* We have reached the middle of the season and Persepolis is at the top of the table. Is the technical staff completely satisfied with the way the team plays and the results obtained?
We are certainly satisfied with the results. At the end of the half season, we are at the top of the table with a few points difference. But we can still get better and better because in some games we fluctuated and lost control of the game. We are working on this every day in training to fix this issue. The players have shown a lot of effort and dedication to improve our game form, tactics and skills.
* With the departure of Lokadia, an important thing happened in the offensive part of the team. How much did this affect the tactics of the team and what were the plans of the technical staff to reduce the effect of this incident?
It was a big problem that Leucadia left our team. He was the best scorer of the team, but I think that we have many good players and with the efforts of all of them together, we can solve this problem. During this time, considering the departure of Lokadia, we had to find new solutions for the way the team plays, and it is very important to say how focused and hardworking the players have been in helping us with new tactical plans. Now I see our team with a greater capacity and a more diverse range of motion.
* What is it like to work with Yahya Golmohammadi and other Iranian coaches?
It is a great honor to share our knowledge here with my colleagues. In the technical staff, we respect everyone’s opinion. Yahya is a wonderful head coach. He has complete knowledge of the club, the members of the technical staff and the players. Yahya knows how to get the best out of everyone, both the players and the technical staff. He has created a very good atmosphere in the team and we talk about our ideas every day, from the type of team’s game to the strategy for training and matches.
Considering the leadership of Persepolis at the end of the half season and the conditions of other teams, how much chance do you think Persepolis has to win the championship this season?
I think that the team that tops the table in the first half of the season definitely has a better chance to win the league, and of course, this is not my personal opinion, and it is a matter that is confirmed by history and statistics. In my opinion, if we appear focused and hard-working like in the previous games, we can win the league and the FA Cup at the end of the season.
Does the technical staff have a plan to buy new players in the transfer season?
A big club like Persepolis should always be ready to buy new players. The technical staff is in full coordination with the club in this regard. We cannot forget that we have only played 50% of the games and for the rest of the season we need a full mix of ready players in every position.
