He continued: The level of the competition was high, especially in the final match, so that it was not clear which team would be the champion until the last seconds. If Iran had participated in the final match, we would have felt the excitement of the audience more.
The president of FIBAAsia also said about Iran’s youth basketball team: In my opinion, the reason why Iran lost the game against Korea was the number of turnovers of your players and in other cases Iran was ahead. Iran could have participated in the World Cup because only Lebanon got a quota among West Asian countries, and this was perhaps Iran’s right to participate in the World Cup, and we must accept that Iran’s place in the World Cup is empty.
In a part of his speech, he paid attention to the conditions of Iran’s senior national basketball team and stated: I wish that Iran’s senior national basketball team will qualify for the World Cup and I was very surprised by the defeats Iran had against Kazakhstan, especially in Tehran. .
Regarding the result of the match between Iran and Japan, Ahmad Al-Thani also said: “When I saw the result, I was surprised why Iran has given up the match with Kazakhstan in Tehran.” I know that it was due to a series of events, but I feel good that the Iranian team was able to defeat Japan and I hope they will defeat China or Australia in the future. He continued: I hope that the support from the Ministry of Sports and Youth and a series of companies will continue to be provided so that the problems will be resolved and Iran will advance to the 2023 World Cup in the first place and then it will become a permanent fixture in every tournament with management and tact. Regarding the meeting with Seyed Hamid Sajjadi, Ahmad Al Thani said: We had a very good meeting with the Minister of Sports and Youth, where we talked for more than an hour about various issues, especially basketball, and he promised to give special support to basketball.
