Referee: Bechirovic’s presence will be the strength of the national team/ we will use all the capacities of basketball to advance to the World Cup

Javad Davari In an interview with IRNA reporter about Mehmed Bechirovic’s presence in the national team, he said: He is a prominent and well-known figure. He has worked in Europe and Asia and has a special reputation in the vast continent of Asia and has a history of work and activity in the Chinese league. The knowledge he has of world basketball and especially Asian teams, can help us on the way to the World Cup, and accordingly, he was added to the technical staff of Iran’s national basketball team.

He continued: The priority of all of us is Iran’s promotion to the World Cup and nothing is more important than this. Our group is more difficult than the other group and according to the situation we have, we have to make good use of all available capacities. Of course, our work is not finished, because we have to think about advancing to the Olympics, and for this reason, the technical staff needed to be strengthened, and this issue was put on the agenda.

In response to the question why Mehmed Bechirovich was included in the agenda, the president of the basketball federation reminded: He has a successful history in Iran and knows Iranian basketball well. On the other hand, it is known in Europe and especially in Asia. As I said, he has also participated in the Chinese league, and in this situation, he is considered a positive point and a strength of the Iranian national team. On the other hand, our other coaches monitor the league competitions with a teamwork and team cohesion so that no point is overlooked, because the goal of all of us is Iran’s promotion to the Basketball World Cup and after that, obtaining a license to participate in the Olympic Games.

In response to the question that the presence of Saeed Armaghani as head coach and Bechirovic as technical director will not be a problem, Davari said: Before we want to conclude on the cooperation between the two sides, a meeting was held with Armaghani and Bechirovic in Slovenia. It was held and they sat and talked. Everything is clear in the basketball federation and the national team, and as I said, the goal of all of us is to advance to the World Cup, and nothing is more important than the name of Iran. With this goal, working conditions were prepared and there is a good relationship between the two parties.

Regarding the presence of players like Hamed Haddadi in the Iranian national basketball team, he said: Our goal is to bring Haddadi into this stream in the best conditions and field a united, energetic and motivated team. Basketball needs unity and empathy, and until this current is not active, we cannot hope for success. In the last 6 months, we inherited the events that were related to the past and before our management period, but now we are looking to the future and we want to draw a clear path.

The president of the basketball federation pointed out: Our goal is the success of the national team, and the means and equipment for the development of basketball should be provided. We held many meetings with different experts during this time to enter this stream with a favorable situation. During this period, I believed that the Iranian women’s team would participate in all possible events and go to the field, and now my efforts are on talent search projects, which is very important.

He also mentioned about the situation of the Premier Basketball League of Iran: the reduction of the number of teams in the league from 16 to 12 teams made us witness a more favorable situation this season. The quality of the league has improved significantly, and in the competition table, all games have their own value, and no game can be considered unimportant because it will have an impact on hosting the next stage.

Regarding the construction of the basketball complex and the academy of this discipline, Davari said: The discussion of the construction and construction of the new hall is in the design stage. During this time, we have talked with various organizations for construction and the work process is positive. God willing, we will soon enter the excavation stage so that the expectations of the basketball community will become a reality.
