According to Mehr news agency, the annual and general assembly of the federation was held this evening (Sunday, August 9) in the Persian Hall of the National Olympic Committee.
At the beginning of this session, Mohammad Reza Davarzani expressed his condolences for the days of mourning for Imam Hossein (AS) and the memory of those who died in the field of volleyball in recent years, especially Hossein Mandari’s death. The blessing of the Supreme Leader is our encouragement in volleyball that we can make people happy by taking actions. Despite the problems and the corona virus, volleyball has not stopped and has been able to achieve success, among which the strong presence of Iran in the 2021 Asian Championship and the 2022 League of Nations is one of the important events.
Emphasizing that the success of volleyball could not happen without the cooperation of all members of the volleyball family, he said: The support of the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee is spiritual because we tried to reduce our dependence on government resources to zero. We accept government grants to help the provinces, but 85% of the federation’s funding comes from sponsors.
The head of the volleyball federation added: “We tried to provide some kind of subsidy and help in the women’s section to motivate the provinces to send their teams to the competitions.” We also paid a major part of the expenses of the national championships so that the volleyball movement train is on a better track and the basic and women’s teams have better progress.
The head of the volleyball federation stated that there is only one specialized program on the radio about the men’s world championship starting in 20 days. Of course, we are grateful for the good coverage of the League of Nations in radio and television, but we expect that the media’s view of volleyball will be more balanced. One tenth of the work that is done for the presence of football in the media should also be considered for volleyball. But unfortunately, volleyball is not favored by the media.
He continued: “Volleyball is at the highest level of sports, and we beat Poland, the host of the League of Nations, at home. It’s not easy to win against America, etc.” Volleyball should have a greater share in the national media. One of the best teams of the last 15 years is the current Iranian youth team, and in the next few years this team will be one of the top national teams in the world. 1400 people had registered on the website of the Federation, a well-trained team whose players all serve jumps. Last year, we had 400 foreign guests in the World Youth Championship in Tehran without a single case of Covid-19, and ten days from now, we will host the Asian Youth Championship in Tehran, and Iran’s volleyball youth are also preparing for the Asian Cup Championship.
While thanking the generations who have helped Iran’s volleyball, he said: this success is due to the efforts of many people such as Zindayad Hossein Mandari (10th of August is the anniversary of his death). Good players who were in the national team and these successes could not have been achieved except with the cooperation of all the people. Many players came and then gave their place to other players, all of them were zealous players who helped the national team and gave their place to other players.
Pointing out that the coming year is a busy year, the referee explained: the women’s national team, the national team B, the national adult team of Iran, teenagers and young people will participate in various competitions soon. We have a good host for beach volleyball, we will have the Asian senior championship and the Asian beach master. We traveled this route together and we don’t intend to stop, we want to move towards the peaks with better acceleration. To make people happy many times and to make the country proud.
